Marcold have many years experience of supplying, installing, maintaining and servicing all types of medical refrigeration systems and equipment. Marcold understand the unique requirements for storage and climate control of temperature sensitive pharmaceutical and critical medical products, and the necessity for maintaining constant temperature and providing auditable records.
Strong Track Record in Medical Refrigeration
For many years Marcold have worked with the NHS organisations, health centres, pharmaceutical manufacturers, national distribution facilities, universities, and retail pharmacies. During this time we have developed a detailed appreciation of the specific requirements of the medical refrigeration sector and geared our organisation to meet them.
Why Refrigeration is so Crucial
The pandemic has of course highlighted the need for adequate refrigeration, as much needed vaccines are rolled out. Three vaccines are set to be distributed throughout the UK, all reportedly around 90% effective against Covid 19. The Pfizer and Moderna vaccines cause the person’s own cells to produce antigens and create an immune response. The later Oxford vaccine uses a virus which causes the common cold in chimpanzees, modified to be safe for humans. A coronavirus gene is ‘smuggled’ in with the vaccine and the immune system does its work.
The vaccines represent a huge advance in the battle against this devastating disease, although it is essential that they are stored properly. If they are not kept at the required low temperatures, they quickly become unstable, less potent and even toxic! This means that batches of this valuable substance have to be disposed of leaving many people vulnerable.
